My teachers seem to be uncomfortable with my reserved character. Some even think that I despise them since I don’t talk to them a lot. How can I change that perception?

There’s a reason why you were created that way and any changes in your character will happen naturally as your confidence continues to grow.Just be positive and help fellow students where necessary. This will show that you have character as a student wishing to learn and share. Teachers adore this kind of attitude. Always complete any assigned homework and respect your teacher, classmates and school rules. You could also make your teacher a thank-you card and they will be pleased.

Also find something of interest that you share with your teacher and when you are both free, approach him/her and start a conversation with them.

The other trick is to be active in class by answering your teacher’s questions and asking when you don’t understand. Also, if the teacher has a good sense of humour, joke with them occasionally. Avoid talking to your friends or sending text messages during lessons because it would set you on a collision path with the teacher if caught.

Furthermore, always wear a smile and look your teachers in the eye. The best thing to do, however, is to wok hard and ensure that your grades are good. This will definitely make teachers your friends.

Dear Grace, teachers love respect and you should give it to them. Being reserved is not bad, but open up a little, discuss with teachers and participate in all student activities. Your teachers will love it.
