Tigo Cash has partnered with Rwanda Online Platform Limited (ROPL) to deliver e-government services payments via the http://www.Irembo.gov.rw portal, the two firms have announced.

The Irembo.rw platform is the single "one-stop-shop” for government services application, support and payment.

Clement Uwajeneza, the chief executive officer of ROPL, said in addition to working with the government, they were partnering with private firms to enable further access to services through the Internet like telecom firms and payment solutions providers.

Through Tigo Cash, Rwandans will now be able to pay for e-government services directly from their mobile phones for services like birth certificates, driving test registration fees, trading licences, as well as trading licences for value added tax-registered companies.

Tongai Maramba, the Tigo Rwanda chief executive officer, said the firm’s over 2.5 million Tigo Cash subscribers will save time while paying for e-government services on Rwanda Online Platform.

Maramba added that the addition of Tigo Cash on the modes of payments for e-Governement services demonstrates the telecom firm’s commitment to the delivery of a cashless economy.

In order to use the platform, a person who successfully applies for an e-government service from the Irembo payment portal, receives a code which they use on their mobile phones for confirmation of payment.
