KIGALI COMEDY and theatre fans will soon be treated to a new special comedy show dubbed ‘Isekere Theatre Nights’. The show is expected to happen regularly featuring several theatre performers and local actors.

Emmanuel Mugisha, better known by his stage name Clapton Kibonge, told The New Times that the shows will be held at regular intervals. The event is being organised by Daymakers Edutainment.

"Theatres are normally watched on TV and played on radio but we want to bring them in live shows. We want our fans to be familiar and embrace attending theatre shows which of course will be a fusion of theatre and comedy,” says Kibonge.

The uniqueness about this particular show, Kibonge says, is that the shows will take place regularly so our fans will be aware of the exact days to which our shows will take place. Fans will be informed on when the show will take place, weekly, monthly or certain fixed days to which they will keep repeating.

He declared that they are still looking for sponsors to partner with and that even though they don’t have a perfect stage to perform theatres at yet, they will manage to use the stage they have for now. The dates and details regarding the shows will be shared soon.

"We will perform several plays to present the experience of different events that are educative using comedy before a live audience. We will tackle different topics either on what is trending or past events with the intention of making them laugh and also help them learn from the experiences to be shared on stage,” he adds.

Clapton Kibonge is regarded as one of the most influential satirical comedians in the country. Kibonge started his comedy career at the tender age of 14. Apart from comedy, Kibonge has been appearing in several local TV series as well as his own series that are liked by many.
