Simba SC head coach Roberto Oliveira ‘Robertinho’ was sacked

Simba SC have part ways with Brazilian coach Roberto Oliveira after just 10 months together.

Oliveira took over the club on January 3 but things did not go as expected as they lost the 2022/23 league title to arch-rivals Yanga SC.

The straw that broke the camel's back was on Sunday, November 5 when Simba was humiliated 5-1 by Yanga in the local derby at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.

The Lions in an official statement on Tuesday, November 7 officially part ways with Oliveira.

"We have reached an agreement to terminate the contract of coach Roberto Oliveira with immediate effect, and on top of that, we have also reached an agreement to terminate the contract of trainer Corneille Hategekimana,” read part of the statement.

"The leadership of Simba wishes to thank the Oliveira and Hategekimana for their contribution towards the team during their stay and wish them well in their next assignments.”

"As we continue to search for a new coach, the team will now be under coach Daniel Cardena and he will be assisted by Seleman Matola.”

Oliveira previously coached clubs including Rayon Sports and Vipers FC.
