East African Youth Development Agency (EAYDA) has launched a national Pool tournament for the first time in Rwanda.

The tournament will get underway on August 7 and runs through August 10 at Charcoal bar and restaurant in Remera.

In an interview with Times sport, the event coordinator and organiser, Emmanuel Mugisha, said the aim of this tournament is to develop and promote the sport. He said that from the same tournament a national team to represent the country in regional competitions will be picked.

”It’s about bringing together pool players in Rwanda, we need to be organised, but also we want to form a national team to represent the country in future regional or international competitions,” said Mugisha.

According to Mugisha, the best player will be awarded a trophy and Rwf300,000, while the first runner-up will get Rwf200,000 and Rwf100,000 will go to the second runner-up.

Meanwhile, the best 32 players will be selected for the national team and all participants will have a get together party at the end of the tournament.

Registration started on Monday and will run until August 6 at the EAYDA offices in Remera.
