Benediction Club and Team Rwanda rider Bonaventure Uwizeyimana says he is working hard to be back to his top level. He said this after finishing sixth in the Northern Circuit cycling race on Saturday.

The 22-year-old, participating in his first competitive race since his recovery from serious head injury, clocked 1 hour, 47 minutes and 11 seconds from Rubavu to Musanze, which covered a total distance of 65.4km.

"I am feeling strong now and working hard, I believe at the time of Tour du Rwanda, I will be able to help my team. I have been treated quite well,” Uwizeymana told Times Sport at the end of the race.

The race was won by his Benediction club teammate Jean Bosco Nsengimana in a time of one hour 43 minutes and 41 seconds.

Uwizeymana added, "I am happy to get this position after the injury. It was hard but my teammates are trying to help me to get back to top level, I have started full training and I am competing without feeling any pain.”

The Northern Circuit race was part of ‘Rwanda Cycling Cup’ which includes 10 national races sponsored by Skol and Cogebanque.

The race will continue on August 22 for the Western Circuit, and then Muhanga – Karongi on September 12, Tour of Kigali + Circuit: Kigali – Bugesera before Tour du Rwanda 16-22 November.
