Police FC unveil 14 new singings, start pre-season training

Peace Cup winners Police Football Club have confirmed the signing of 14 new players and released 12 ahead of the start of the 2015/16 season next month.

Peace Cup winners Police Football Club have confirmed the signing of 14 new players and released 12 ahead of the start of the 2015/16 season next month.

The new signings were unveiled by the Rwanda National Police (RNP) Inspector General of Police Emmanuel K. Gasana at Kicukiro stadium this week. The team started pre-season training almost two weeks ago.

In his remark, he challenged the new players to link up with those they found at the club in making Police FC more successful, stressing that the side reflects the image of the national police at large.

Among major singings include; Rwanda international midfielder Hegman Ngomirakiza from APR, Robert Ndatimana from Rayon Sports and twin brothers Isaie Songa and Isaac Muganza from AS Kigali and Rayon Sports respectively among others.

In a separate interview with Sunday Sport, Police FC head coach André Cassa Mbungo said the new signings are intended to strengthen his side as they prepare to represent Rwanda in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup as well as having a go at the national league title.

"We want to build a side that can challenge for the league title, Peace Cup and also do well in the CAF Confederation Cup,” said the former AS Kigali tactician.

Last month, Police FC beat Rayon Sports 1-0 to claim this year’s Peace Cup crown, the first piece of major silverware in the club’s history.

New players:

Robert Ndatimana (Rayon Sports), Hegman Ngomirakiza (APR), Isaie Songa (AS Kigali), Isaac Muganza (Rayon), Patrick Umwungeri (AS Kigali), Anderson Neza (SEC Academy), Hakim Tuyisenge (Isonga), Danny Usengimana (Isonga FC) and Emmanuel Bwanakweri from Gicumbi FC

Others include Jean Marie Vianney Muvandimwe (Gicumbi), Japhet Hakizimana Irambona (Musanze), Jean Paul Uwihoreye (Musanze), Mouhamed Mushimiyimana (AS Kigali) and free agent Olave Gahonzire.

Released players:

Jean Bosco Uwacu, Amani Twiringiyimana, Emmanuel Sebanani, Jean d’Amour Uwimana, Innocent Twagirayezu, JMV Kidega, Pichu, Vincent, Pascal, Abdul Karim Nshimiyimana, Tumaine Ntamuhanga and goalie Steven Ntaribi.
