Rwanda School Sports Federation (RSSF) will host this year’s Federation of East African Secondary School Sports Associations (FEASSSA) Games from August 14-24 in Huye district, Southern Province.

RSSF technical director, Aaron Rurangirwa confirmed the development to this newspaper, yesterday as Rwanda prepares to host the multi-discipline games for the second time in history.

This year’s event is the 14th edition of the annual post-primary competition. Rwanda first hosted the meet for the FEASSSA Games in 2008 in Kigali.

Rwanda will field over 30 teams, 11 more than in the last three years. Since 2012, only Nyarugenge-based Solidarity Academy has managed to win a trophy in the girls’ football category in 2013 for Rwanda in Gulu, Uganda.

"We are fielding more teams so that we can win as many titles as possible this year. Things have not been going smoothly for Rwandan representatives in the last few years. We are out to end the dominance of Kenya and Uganda this year,” Rurangirwa said.

Last year’s edition was staged in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania while the 2013 event was held in Gulu (Uganda) and the 2012 competition took place in Bujumbura, Burundi.
