Tigo Rwanda has unveiled a new brand slogan as it moves to re-position itself in the market and provide more innovative products that add value to clients’ lives, Tongai Maramba, the firm’s chief executive officer, has said.

Speaking at the launch of the firm’s new slogan: ‘Live it. Love it’ on Wednesday, Maramba said Tigo is committed to strengthening Rwanda as a leading ICT hub through provision of competitive Internet packages.

"The Internet is becoming an indispensable part of people’s lives... In Rwanda, as in many other places, we use digital products and services for business, education, as well as for family activities and enjoyment.

"This fits in our new slogan, which is a result of an extensive project to position Tigo to match the needs of fast-changing customer base,” he said.

Tigo has been marketing its products using the slogan; "Smile, You’ve got Tigo”.

Tigo is Rwanda’s second-largest telecom operator after MTN Rwanda in terms of subscribers, with over 2.7 million customers as at the end of March, out of the nearly eight million Rwandans who own mobile phones, according to statistics from the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA).

The telecom firm also has over 1.2 million mobile Internet subscribers compared to MTN Rwanda’s 1.4 million Internet users. Total Internet subscribers in Rwanda stand at 3.14 million.

Maramba noted that the Internet presents a huge opportunity, saying customers are increasingly expecting them to make it easier for them to access the net.
