A win in today’s Group B game against Somalia’s Heegan FC at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania will secure a quarter-final berth for APR FC at the ongoing CECAFA Kagame Cup.

The army side laboured to a narrow 1-0 victory against Sudan’s Al Ahly Shendi in their first encounter last Saturday sending them top of Group B following the goalless draw between Burundi’s LLB and Heegan FC on Sunday.

Midfielder Yannick Mukunzi said, "We want to maintain the winning form and register victory against Heegan FC because that will help us qualify for the quarterfinals.”

APR who struggled through the first half of their opener will be hoping to set the pace early enough into today’s game and it is this display of intent that head coach Dusan Suljagic has urged his players to embrace from the onset.

In the other game of the day, Tanzanian side Azam will be up against South Sudan’s Malakia with the hosts eyeing triumph that will better their chances of making it to the last eight.

New signing Jean Baptiste ‘Migi’ Mugiraneza who came on as a substitute in the 1-0 victory over Uganda’s KCCA on Sunday, will be looking to inspire his side to yet another win.

Meanwhile, newcomers Al Khartoum thrashed Djibouti Telecom 5-0 in Group A to begin their campaign on a high note on Monday.

Former Ghana Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, who is now in charge of the Sudanese side said, "I am very pleased that we have won our first game. We could have scored more.”
