National handball league reigning champions, Police, will be looking to move clear at the top of the table when they face lowly Nyakabanda handball club today at Kimisagara youth centre grounds.

The Police vs Nyakabanda game will be followed by the clash between second-placed APR and 2013 champions Gicumbi at the same venue.

Police coach Antoine Ntibanganya admits that the competition is intense and so his team can’t afford to lose focus as the champions start their second round campaign.

"We started intense training on Monday and all players are available for the game, we don’t have any injuries and I am hoping for a positive result,” Ntibanganya said.

Police and APR are level on 30 points but the latter have played one more game. ES Kigoma are just two points behind with 28 points followed by GS St Aloys on 25 points while College Inyeramihigo are on fifth position with 20 points.

The bottom four teams are UR-College of Education, Nyakabanda and GS Rambura with 14, 11 and 9 points respectively.
