Just two days after he was released by APR, midfielder Hegman Ngomirakiza has signed a two-year contract with Peace Cup winners Police FC until the end of the 2016/17 season.

Ngomirakiaza’s move to Police came as a little shock especially with the fact that seven-time league champions Rayon Sports were the front-runners for his signature and also the player’s preferred destination initially—until Andre Cassa Mbungo’s side showed up with a better offer.

The Rwanda international earlier this week, ended his association with his childhood team APR after ten years. Before being snapped up by Police, he had initiated talks with several clubs including Rayon Sport and SC Kiyovu.

In an interview with Saturday Sport, Ngomirakiza revealed he had reached a verbal agreement with Rayon Sport but talks stalled when the club started sending different representatives to reinitiate the negotiations.

"Yes, I can confirm that now I am a Police FC player, we have agreed on everything,” Ngomirakiza confirmed yesterday.

However, efforts to get a comment from Police FC club spokesman proved futile as all calls went unanswered by press time.

Ngomirakiza has agreed an annual salary of Rwf5 million in addition to the club paying his medical insurance as well as a clause that allows him to talk to any team that may show interest to sign him regardless of the time left on his contract.
