President Paul Kagame on Friday evening appointed Lt Col Innocent Gashugi as the new Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, replacing Col Joseph Rutabana, who was recently appointed as Rwanda’s ambassador to Israel.

This was communicated in a statement from the Office of Prime Minister, released last evening.

Gashugi has prior to his appointment, been working in the Office of the President. Rutabana became the first envoy to be posted in the newly created embassy in Tel Aviv as part of the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with different countries across the globe.
