Golfer Ndayisenga optimistic heading into Uganda Open

Talking to Time Sport on Thursday, Ndayisenga disclosed that he has intensified preparations for this year’s tournament after a disappointing score last year when he didn’t make the cut after two rounds.

"My preparations for this year’s Open are the most intense I have had for any previous competition because I want to make up for the disappointment from last year’s edition,” said the 27-year- old golfer.

Ndayisenga will be participating in the Uganda Open for the fifth time in a row since his debut in 2010, the year he turned pro and went on to finish fifth. In 2011 he failed the cut and the following year he came in the 10th position while in 2013 he finished 7th.

Ndayisenga says he is desperate to leave a mark this time round despite the tournament attracting top professional golfers from the East African region and South Africa.

He noted, "I don’t always panic before or during competitions and I hope this time, I will be able to make up for last year’s disappointment.”

Ndayisenga will depart for Uganda on July 24 with Rwanda’s number 2, Emmanuel Ruterana. The pair will play in a Pro-Am competition July 27 before real business gets underway in the main event from July 29-August 1.
