Rayon Sports and Amavubi first choice goalkeeper Eric ‘Bakame’ Ndayishimiye has renewed his contract by two more years thus putting to rest speculations of a possible move from the club.

"We have reached an agreement with the player and he has signed a new contract to play for Rayon Sports for the next two years,” Rayon Sports’ club spokesman Aime Niyomusabye told Times Sport yesterday.

Ndayishimiye, who joined Rayon Sports in July 2013 from archrivals APR in a two-year deal , has been linked to several first division clubs including AS Kigali, Police FC and former team APR.

According to the terms of his new contract, the Rwanda international will earn Rwf4.8 million a year having agreed a monthly salary of Rwf400,000.

It has also been suggested that he is likely to take up the captain’s armband to replace Fuadi Ndayisenga, who left the club last month after signing for Kenyan side Sofapaka along with long-serving midfielder Aphrodis Kanombe’ Hategekimana.

The 27-year-old made a name for himself when he won the CECAFA Kagame Cup in 2009 with ATRACO FC (now defunct) after beating Sudanese giants Al Merreikh in Khartoum.

Rayon Sports, who had a poor campaign in the just concluded 2014/15 season, have lost a number of several players including; Djihad Bizimana to APR FC, Abouba Sibomana and Karim Mckenzie Nizigiyimana, who joined Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia in January.

Midfielder Robert Ndatimana also crossed to Police FC last month, while centre back Faustin Usengimana is reported to be close to signing for APR.
