Mukura Victory Sport are looking to strengthen their squad this transfer window as they bid to restore their reputation as a force to reckon with in the National Football League.

The Huye-based outfit finished in 10th position last season, four places above the relegation zone having scored only 22 goals and conceding 27 goals in 26 games – and dropping two places compared to the season before.

Mukura secretary general Emmanuel Ntakirutimana said they were planning to add at least three or four players to the squad, including two strikers, a midfielder and probably a defender.

Asked why the focus was be on strikers, he said, "Normally they say when you have a strong striking force, then you have a strong defence.”

In the meantime, the club will hold a general assembly on July 26 during which they intend to appoint a new executive committee that will be in charge for the next four years.

During the meeting, club officials say, they will also kick start the transfer process.

The four-time winners of the Coupe du 4 Juillet (now Peace Cup) were recently buoyed by the completion of the repair works on their Kamena Stadium as well as soon-to-be-completed Huye Stadium.
