One of Amavubi prospects, Blaise Itangishaka, is set to join the Spanish side Esportiva Cornellá after spending four years with Aspire Academy in Dakar, Senegal.

After his inspiration in Dakar, the 18-year-old is expected to under-go a test with Esportiva Cornellá with a possibility of signing for Spanish Segunda División B – Group 3’s side at the end of the July.

"My four years in Aspire Academy have ended and I am happy I have leant a lot, now my agent is negotiating with Esportiva Cornellá with possibility of signing me,” Itangishaka told Saturday Sport this week.

The midfielder joined Aspire Academy on a three-and-a-half year deal in 2011. During his spell in Dakar, Itangishaka’s parents were guaranteed to pocket US$2,400 (about Rwf1.8m) annually.

In 2011, Itangishaka, bursting with youthful exuberance and enthusiasm, is only one of 38 youngsters in the world, who qualified to play in one of the world’s best football academies.

If he secures the deal with Spanish club, the former U17 national team starlet will become the second player from Sec Academy to sign for European team after central defender Salomon Nirisalike, who plays for Saint Truiden in Belgium. Sec Academy is owned by Augustin Munyandamutsa.

The Aspire programme started in 2007 and runs in 15 different countries in Asia, South America and Africa with two top class soccer academies in Qatar and Senegal.

The Unión Esportiva Cornellá de Emblurya of Catalan is a Spanish football team based in Cornellà de Llobregat, in the autonomous community of Catalonia.

It was founded in 1951 and currently it plays in Segunda División B – Group 3, holding home games at Nou Camp Municipal, which has a capacity of 1,500 spectators.

This team produced players like Jordi Alba of FC Barcelona and Ignaci Miquel, who played for Arsenal.
