Second division league title hopefuls Sorwathe FC are confident of earning promotion to the topflight division league for the 2015/2016 season.

Rulindo-based Sorwathe set one foot in semi-finals of the second division play-offs on Wednesday after snatching an away 1-0 win against United Stars in the quarter-finals first-leg.

Striker Benoit Kamuhanda scored the lonely goal of the match for the visitors in the 43rd minute.

In a post-match interview, Sorwathe FC head coach Jean Jacques Muteba said the away victory was sweet but challenged his players to stay focused on a more grueling challenge ahead.

"The first-leg win is quiet something, we will go into the return-leg aiming not to concede, nonetheless there is no room for complacency, our target is winning a slot to topflight league,” Muteba noted.

Elsewhere, Bugesera boosted their chances to reach semi-finals after winning 1-0 over hosts Nyagatare and coach Noel Nsaziyinka is confident his players are up to making history.

Defensive midfielder Jacques Ntwari scored the only goal of the encounter in the 88th minute from the penalty spot.

The second-leg matches are scheduled for Sunday and the winners by aggregate score will advance to semi-finals.

The two finalists will get promoted to the national football league and replace relegated Etincelles and Isonga FC.
