Second division side Bugesera are seeking to make a debut appearance in the National Football League when they take on hosts Nyagatare in the first leg of the quarterfinals today.

Bugesera head coach Noel Sanziga said, "We are pleased to reach this stage but we still have a lot of work to do. We will use the first leg to get good results that will help us to play easier in the second leg. It will be an advantage for us and I hope we can finish off the job in the return leg at home.”

In the other matches, Rwamagana will host Aspor in Rwamagana while Sorwathe will play away to United Stars in Kabagari. La Jeunesse will take on AS Muhanga at Muhanga stadium.

In the group stages, Aspor finished on top of Pool A with 47 points while La Jeunesse were second with 45 points.

United Stars was third with 42 points while Nyagatare was fourth with 41 points. In pool B, Bugesera finished top with 54 points while Sorwathe had 52 points. Muhanga had 43 points while Rwamagana had 39 points.

The eight sides have qualified for the knockout stages vying for two slots available for promotion to the topflight division league next season.
