Peace Cup semifinal

Today

Police vs APR (Kicukiro, 3:30pm)

Defending champions APR will need a win when they host rivals Police in the return leg of the Peace Cup semi-final today at Kicukiro Stadium.

The teams played out a 1-1 draw at the same venue in the first leg last weekend with Police as the hosts.

"It is going to be a tough game but we will try to score goals which should help us to make it to the final. Our target is to win,” APR assistant coach Vincent Mashami said.

Meanwhile, Police head coach Andre Cassa Mbungo said, "We are pleased to reach this stage but we still have a lot of work to do, we will go for a win, we have an advantage of scoring an away goal and I hope we can finish the job.”

Striker Idesbald Nshuti put the Cops ahead early in the first half following defensive miscommunication between defenders Emery Bayisenge and Ismail Nshutiyamagara, and goalkeeper Jean Claude Ndoli, with Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza’s strike levelling matters.

Mbungo will have his skipper Jacques Tuyisenge and Imran Nshimiyimana back from suspension and injury, respectively, while young midfielder Rachid Kalisa is out of the tie with injury.

The winner of this tie will face Rayon Sports in the final slated for July 4 at Amahoro Stadium.
