Rusizi United and Winners from Muhanga district played a goalless draw in regular time before Rusizi won 4-3 on spot kicks. Olivier Niyomugabo grabbed the winning penalty for Rusizi.
Their counterparts of Gatagara Academy clinched the girls’ category title with 3-2 victory on penalty shoot-outs following a goalless draw in rregular time. Coretha Musabyimana scored the winning spot for Nyanza-based Gatagara Academy. Rusizi United and Gatagara Academy join Gatsibo Football Academy and Abarashi Girls from the Eastern Province zone who had earlier qualified for the national level semi-finals.
Rubavu district will host the North and Western Province zone preliminaries on the weekend of July 4-5.
