Examine yourself before judging the teacher

Teachers and students sometimes have personality clashes, just like any two people who don’t get along. Teachers aren’t always perfect, and can sometimes fall into a pattern of picking on certain students who, for one reason or another, rub them the wrong way. Your teacher feels guilty about his unprofessional action of kissing a girl and is conscious that you might spread information about it.

However, you need to check yourself to establish if indeed this is the real cause for his resentment. Perhaps this teacher sees that you’re going down a wrong path. Try to approach him when he is in a good mood and tell him that if you have done anything to offend him, you’re sorry and show that you appreciate that he is your teacher. Always be on time and pay close attention to the teacher while ignoring other students who might distract you. Pay maximum attention in class and participate fully in the lesson and present your homework for marking in time. Address the teacher respectfully as ‘sir’. Teachers need respect which can often be reflected from the manner in which learners address them.

If you apply all the above strategies and still discover that this teacher still resents you, talk to another teacher you trust or school counsellor about his pathetic conduct and mistreatment for you. Get your parents to report him to the principal. You don’t deserve that, you’re a student who looks onto him for academic nurturing and guidance. He is only behaving unprofessionally.

Do not allow your teacher to disorganise you. Education is your future and must therefore not be compromised by any one. I would recommend that you report this case to one of the administrators for help.

Politely ask your teacher for a meeting to discuss this issue. Tell him how much his attitude towards you is affecting your studies and ask him to be considerate.

Your teacher is behaving unprofessionally. If you are not spreading any rumour around, why harass you? Talk to another teacher about it.

It’s too bad you’re being tortured for nothing. I advise you not to let this bitterness from your teacher affect you. Approach your teacher and tell him how you feel. By the end of the meeting, you will have got a solution.
