Gospel fraternity remembers Genocide victims

It was an emotional scene as members of the local gospel community gathered at the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre in Gisozi on Sunday, to pay tribute to more than a million Rwandans killed in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, in an event dubbed, “More Than Music” project.

It was an emotional scene as members of the local gospel community gathered at the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre in Gisozi on Sunday, to pay tribute to more than a million Rwandans killed in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, in an event dubbed, "More Than Music” project.

The ceremony started at 3p.m with a commemoration walk from Kinamba to the Memorial Centre with the laying of wreaths as well as testimonies by some of the genocide survivors and performances at Ampi - theatre.

Other activities included performances by Eglise Presbytérienne au Rwanda (EPR) from Remera, a skit by Shining Stars dance group and contemporary dance by Shekinah Dance group.

Didier Eric Ngaboyisonga, a worship leader at Restoration Church Kimisagara and one of the organizers, said this was the third edition of the project, "We wish more and more people could come and do this even artistes from abroad."

The "More Than Music Project” started in 2011, with the aim to remember the genocide victims, support the survivors and to foster reconciliation through music. The project was started by Moriah Entertainment Group and Positive Production.
