Rwanda women’s national team captain Mary Maina is hoping to start off on a high note when they take on neighbours Uganda in the morning and Kenya in the afternoon in the Kwibuka Women’s Twenty20 cricket tournament today at Kicukiro Cricket Grounds.

Maina, whose target is to lead her charges to victory on home ground, believes this is the time to shine but she is cautious of the challenge at hand, especially against a strong Ugandan schools’ select side and the Kenyan national side.

"We are going to be very careful with both teams especially Kenya because we do not know how they play.

However, we shall give every game our best and we hope to win the event,” said the optimistic Maina.

Against Uganda, Rwanda faces a side that boosts of an experienced field of girls led by captain Rachael Ntono and the opening pair of Damalie Busingye and Saidat Kemigisha who also feature for the senior national side.

Meanwhile, Kenyan Captain and right arm medium pace bowler Sylvia Wairimu Kinyua told Times Sport that, "We are hoping to get off on the right note and we shall be hoping to emerge victorious. We have a chance to see Rwanda play against Uganda in the morning before we play the former in the afternoon.”
