Editor,

Refer to the story, "Poor value chain, a threat to Rwandan coffee” (The New Times, June 1). First and foremost, we need to appreciate our success and consolidate our hitherto achievement in coffee.

Post-harvest situations constitute a hindrance to achievement of more gains. We need to promote the "farmer field schools (FFS) concept.

Our performance in the agriculture sector has more to do with the commitment of our farmers. You milk a cow that you have fed. Rwanda’s coffee is a goldmine; its value is known to those who quietly survive on it, especially through producing, sorting and washing it even as we are constantly told that our coffee chain is broken.
