KCC won by 51 runs

Kigali Cricket Club on Sunday showed that the Ramadhan break had not affected their form when they beat Right Guards by 51 runs at Kicukiro oval. The record four-time Sulfo league champions fought back well after a dull show with the bat.

Despite a spirited perfomance from the opening batsmen Imran Maulana (33) and Rizwan Pandor (34), KCC were dismissed for a paltry 129, thanks to Emma Byiringiro who led the surge with four wickets.

However, Guards who were without their influential captain Henry Zzizinga failed to build on that impressive bowling display when they were shockingly bowled out for 78 runs, 51 runs short of the target. KCC’s captain Mehboob Jasat led from the front with three wickets. Mohammad Jasat also took three wickets.

"It is a big win for us and I commend the boys for the fight back. We did not bat well but we got ourselves back in the game with some fine bowling,” Mehboob said.

KCC are now second with eight points, one short of table leaders Challengers. Young Tigers are in third position with seven points, Right Guards in fourth with four points while are at the foot with five points.
