The Government of Rwanda in partnership with the Korea International Corporation Agency (KOICA) on Friday morning broke ground to pave way for the construction of the multi-million technical teachers’ training institute.

The facility is to be constructed at the Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre (IPRC) Kigali, in Kicukiro.

The Institute is expected to enhance the quality of skills for teachers in technical and vocational training institutions all over the country.

During the ground breaking ceremony, Han Choongsik, the vice president of KOICA commended the existing partnership between the governments of Korea and Rwanda.

Han pointed out that since technical and vocational training is the basis of many businesses and operations, improving its quality will definitely contribute to economic development.

The Institute valued at $5 million (approx. Rwf3.6 billion) will host over 60 students per session and over 300 teachers will be trained annually.
