Third-placed Police FC are out to grab second spot this afternoon if they see off Espoir and AS Kigali loses or is held to a draw by SC Kiyovu at Mumena Stadium on the last day of the National Football League season.

With 45 points from 25 games, Andre Cassa Mbungo’s side are a point below AS Kigali who were held to a 1-1 draw by Gicumbi midweek, handing APR their 15th league title.

Mbungo said, "Our target is to finish as high as possible in the league and just like all our games this season, we want to win. Espoir is a tough team but we want to emerge victorious and bag all maximum points.”

The Rusizi-based side has been in good form at home this season and shocked champions APR with 1-0 win in March before holding Rayon Sports to a goalless draw a week later and also forced a 1-1 draw against AS Kigali earlier this month.

However, the law enforcers go into this encounter with an in-form team that was motivated by a 2-1 win over Rayon Sports on Thursday with Captain Jacques Tuyisenge netting on return from injury.

In other games of the day, APR travel to Rwamagana to face Sunrise who have not lost a home game since their 1-0 defeat to bottom-placed Isonga in March.

APR Captain Ismael Nshutiyamagara said, "We were disappointed to have drawn 2-2 with Isonga on Friday but against Sunrise we must not be complacent because we want to finish on a high. We want a perfect finish to the season even if we have already been crowned champions.”

Gicumbi host Marines at Byumba Stadium while Rayon Sports will be up against Mukura at Muhanga Stadium hoping to bounce back to winning ways and grant their fans something to smile about at the end of a disappointing season that was marred with lacklustre performances.

Relegated Etincelles host Amagaju at the Tam Tam stadium while another relegated side Isonga travel to Musanze in a bid to build on their 2-2 draw with APR on Friday.
