The Ministry of Trade and Industry has announced new fuel prices. Effective today, pump prices are not supposed to exceed Rwf840 per litre, according to a statement from the ministry.

The price increase from Rwf810 was attributed to rise in international prices which have been experienced since February.

The prices have increased by 14 per cent since February, the ministry said.

The government has been responding to global oil price changes since March, last year, when the ministry  announced fuel cuts from Rwf1,030 to Rwf1,010, and later in November, from Rwf1,010 to Rwf960 per litre of petrol.

Petrol and diesel went down to Rwf895 per litre in December, and drooped further in March to Rwf810 per litre.
