After a spectacular performance in the Zone V championship which Rwanda won after a 3-2 win over Kenya, National team coach Paul Bitok is keen to register a similar performance in the 2015 Men’s African Volleyball Championship slated for July 20 to 31 in Cairo, Egypt.

Bitok wants the team to start early preparations for the competition which will involve African giants like holders Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Cameroon and Morocco but Bitok believes that thorough training coupled with friendlies with top teams on the continent will boost the confidence of his players in the competition.

"Our performance in the Zone V shows how good preparation can win you games. We want something similar for the Africa volleyball Men championship,” the Kenyan tactician said.

The last time Rwanda took part in the competition was in 2008, and the national side finished in eighth position. The top two teams will qualify for the 2015 FIVB Men’s World Cup which will be staged in Japan from 8 - 23 September.

Meanwhile Kenya will host the African National women volleyball Championships from June 10 – 21.

The competition will act as a qualifier for the 2015 FIVB Women’s World Cup to be hosted in Japan from August 22 to September 6 2015 and the winner will represent Africa.

Seven time champions Kenya is the defending champions having won the title in 2013.
