Kigali city has been awarded for the superb preparation of the recently held Parliamentary elections.

According to a Kigali City press release seen by The New Times, Chrysologue Karangwa, the Electoral Commission Chairman, presented a trophy to Dieudonne Rumaragishyika, the Vice Mayor in charge of Finance and Economic development at Bambino Fun Resort last Friday.

"Mr. Karangwa congratulated the Kigali city authorities for successfully organizing the election process and this was manifested by a 99.2% participation rate which is the highest in the entire country,” the release states in part.

Reportedly, Rumaragishyika also thanked the Electoral Commission for its support and appreciated the role played by local leaders in the city.

Also lauded was the population’s effort in making the whole election process more enjoyable by decorating polling stations, among others.

Present at the occasion, among others, was Jeanne d’Arc Gakuba, the City’s Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs and the District Mayors of Gasabo, Kicukiro and Nyarugenge.
