After paying their respects, Arsenal fans went to Nyamagana village where they donated 74 goats and 150 t-shirts to 36 families that were affected by the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.
"Before being fans of Arsenal, we are Rwandans. Today we are here to be part of a cause that makes us relevant to our society,” said Apollo Munanura, the president of the Rwanda Arsenal Fans Club (RAFC).
He emphasised the need for all people to be ambassadors who preach against Genocide denial.
"We have learnt a lot today that is going to help in educating most of our colleagues about what happened here. For example, I didn’t know all these people died in Nyanza,” said Willy Kamanzi, an Arsenal fan.
While in Nyamagana village, Arsenal fans held discussions with 36 families and also shared testimonies of the Genocide.
Emmanuela ‘Nana’ Ikirezi’, and Safari Kizito, all Arsenal fans from Kigali and also survivors of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi, urged the youth in Nyamagana Village to work hard and play their rightful role in the development of the country. They also thanked the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF) leadership for having stopped the Genocide.
