APR need one point to seal a record 15th league title after defeating Kiyovu 2-0 yesterday at the Mumena Stadium.

Right back Michel Rusheshangoga opened the scoring with a superb finish before Kiyovu were reduced to 10 men after Fitina Ombolenga was handed a straight red card for punching APR midfielder Jean Claude Iranzi.

Central defender Emery Bayisenge found the back of the net after he sent a short pass from a corner-kick before cutting onto the outside of the penalty box to send a long range shot into the top left corner to give APR a 2-0 lead at half time.

"I am very contented with our win because we played well and now we have to make sure that we get another win to clinch the title in style,” said Dusan Suljagic, head coach of APR.

APR now has 51 points, six points ahead of second placed AS Kigali who blew any chances of putting pressure on the table leaders after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Espoir in Rusizi.

Elsewhere, Rayon Sports came from two goals down to defeat Marines 3-2 at Muhanga Stadium to maintain fourth position with 37 points, five behind Police who defeated Etincelles 1-0 in Rubavu.

Isonga registered their second win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Amagaju while Rwamagana-based Sunrise stunned Gicumbi with a 1-0 triumph at Byumba Stadium.
