Uzuri K&Y, a fashion house owned by Rwanda’s aspiring designers Kevine Kagirimpundu and Ysolde Shimwe, plans to unveil their Rwandan made designer shoes next month. The fashion house is located in Gikondo.

The designers, who are graduating from the University of Rwanda (UR) this year have been making a range of clothes using local fabrics.

But now they want to concentrate on making only designer shoes for women.

"Now, we want to concentrate more on the shoes in order to be able to diversify our business efforts. Before we used to make both clothes and shoes for women, but now we want to focus on the footwear,” said 22-year-old Shimwe.

She told The New Times that the shoes would be on the market early this month and will also be distributed in Kenya, Uganda as well as Ghana.

"We shall distribute the shoes in the above mentioned countries because we want foreigners to know and appreciate the locally made Rwandan products,” she explained.
