Platini Nemeye is a member of afro-beat duo Dream Boys, contestants in this year’s Primus GumaGuma Super Star (PGGSS5) competition. The journalism and communications graduate is a full time artiste with a passion for football. He shared with Stephen Kalimba some of his dos and don’ts in fashion.

What’s your style?

Platini Nemeye

I am into simple but fitting clothes, especially jeans and t-shirts and casual shoes. If I have jeans, a t-shirt, watch, chain and earrings, I’m set for the day.

Do you have a designer?

We plan our attire as Dream Boys and consult with a tailor to create them. As Dream Boys, we like matching outfits that show that we are a group. Our fans like it when we dress uniformly. I get outfits from Zahabu Designs and Rupari too.

What accessories do you fancy?

Like I said, a watch, chain and earrings are my thing.

Earrings?

I don’t go for the big ones of course. As an artiste, they are simply for charm. Rings are okay and anybody can wear them but don’t overdo it, and don’t go for big ones.

What’s so special about those long zip t-shirts that your group is known for?

We like them because they fit well and are comfortable. And they come in black or white, colours that I happen to like.

What’s your fashion weakness?

I don’t pay much attention to some things, like caps for example. As long as my hair is cut, I’m good.

What item can’t you say no to?

A nice pair of jeans.

Share some fashion don’ts

I think people should avoid clothes that are oversize.

Any fashion advice?

People need to create their own style but it’s imperative to look for clothes that are your size.
