Basketball players especially the youth are set to learn from International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Instructor Blaise Louamba Baleketa who is in the country to train young basketball players.

Rwanda Basketball Federation (Ferwaba) technical director Didier Shema Maboko told Times Sport that the Gabonese-born instructor who has been in the country since Monday is set to visit various sites across the country where young hoops (girls and boys) aged 14-17 have been training for the last few weeks.

"The programme is aimed at nurturing and improving the level of youth basketball. He will guide the players on how best to make a career in this game,” Maboko said.

Shema also revealed to this paper that through this programme, national youth team coaches have selected impressive talents to be used for the forthcoming Fiba Africa Zone five youth championships that will be held in Rwanda next month.

There are currently 20 basketball centers for both boys and girls across the country. The purpose of the centers is to nurture raw talent.

This is the second time this year that Fiba Instructor Louamba Baleketa is conducting a training session in Rwanda.

Early this year, Baleketa conducted a week-long coaching clinic for youth basketball coaches and he is expected to assess how the coaches are imparting that knowledge to the teams they train.
