Buffaloes vs UR Grizzlies Muhanga vs 1000 Hills

Defending champions Remera Buffaloes will take on University of Rwanda Grizzlies RFC in the first semi-final playoff of the national rugby league on Saturday at UTEXRWA ground in Gacuriro.

Buffaloes, chasing a record fifth league crown, qualified for the semi-finals after coming out on top in the Kigali league while Huye-based U.R Grizzlies finished second behind Muhanga in the Southern Province regular season league.

Vincent Kamali, the Remera Buffaloes captain said, "We must be well prepared for the semi-final game because its’ a knockout game. We need to work on our teamwork game because we were disjointed in the last (regular season) league game against 1000 Hills.”

Buffaloes ended the regular season unbeaten after defeating 1000 Hills RFC 18-10 in a hotly contested game on Saturday at UTEXRWA ground.

Meanwhile, Southern Province league leaders Muhanga RFC will be hoping to make up for last year’s semi final loss to Kigali Sharks when they face new league entrants, 1000 Hills on the same day at the same venue.

"We started the league with a target to finish first and we did it, and now we are pressing for the final. We want to show everybody that rugby isn’t only played in Kigali,” stated Muhanga RFC captain Livingstone Muhire,

The final and third place play off will be played on May 2.
