Title contenders AS Kigali face their biggest test when they take on a rejuvenated Rayon Sports side this afternoon at Muhanga Stadium.

Eric Nshimiyimana’s side sit in second place with 44 points tied with table leaders APR who have a better goal difference +24 as compared to +17, and the former APR midfielder knows that winning all their remaining games is a must if they are to keep pace with the army side, who have a game in hand.

AS Kigali’s front pair of Isaie Songa (11) and Ernest Sugira (8) has netted 19 times this season more than any other striking partnership in the league and it is against a solid Rayon Sports defense manned by Faustin Usengimana that they will have to overcome to keep Nshimiyimana’s dream of winning the club’s first ever league title.

Usengimana is aware of the challenge ahead but he is confident that his teammates will be able to execute coach Jean-Baptiste Kayiranga’s game plan.

Rayon Sports are on fifth position, 14 points behind AS Kigali, who won the corresponding fixture 2-1. Songa and Sugira scored AS Kigali while Isaac Muganze netted for the Blues.

"We have been working hard in training and that was very evident in our 4-0 win over Etincelles midweek and we would like to maintain that against AS Kigali. It won’t be easy but we have to do our best,” explained Usengimana.

In the other game of the day, table leaders APR face Amagaju at the Kicukiro stadium with victory being the only objective for Dusan Suljagic’s side that is eyeing a 15th record league title.

Suljagic said, "Every game we are playing right now is a final. We have to win all our remaining games in order to win the league title which is our main objective this season.”

APR will however miss the services of four dependable players including Emery Bayisenge and Michel Rusheshangoga who accumulated two yellow cards and the injured Ismael Nshutiyamagara as well Patrick Sibomana.

"This is an opportunity for the other players to get playing time and prove themselves because they are quality players,” explained Suljagic.

Meanwhile, the Rubavu derby between Etincelles and Marines has been postponed to April 29 after the district administration informed both clubs that the Tam Tam stadium is unavailable because of an official event at the venue.
