Inyemera’s former attacking-midfielder Anatolie Nirere, who passed away at University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK) on Thursday night, will be laid to rest today at Nyamirambo public cemetery.

Her former club and the Rwanda football fraternity at large are still trying to come to terms with the death of the budding female footballer.

The former Musanze and APR women football club maestro came to the limelight in 2008, when she was named on the national U-20 women’s team that traveled to Germany for friendly matches and later featured for the national women’s team in 2009 AFCON qualifiers.

Last year, she was also named in the preliminary She-Amavubi 36-player shortlist for the 2014 Namibia AFCON qualifiers but didn’t make the final 18.

"Rwanda has lost a talented footballer; Nirere was not only a fine player but a tutor to upcoming youngsters. There is a lot that this new generation of women footballers would have learnt from her expertise and experience, but now she is gone. May her soul rest in eternal peace,” National women football team coach Grace Nyinawumutu said

Meanwhile the national women’s football championships will resume with the second-leg this afternoon after a three-week break.  Six-time reigning champions AS Kigali are set to play league newcomers Golden generation at Rugende grounds.

Elsewhere Nyagatare host  Inyemera, Freedom of Gakenke take on second-placed Les Lionnes while struggling Bugesera face fifth-placed Atletico FC of Huye district.

On Sunday, Muhanga-based Academic girls will be up against Rambura while Youvia hosts Kamonyi in Muhanga.
