Editor,

Refer to the article, "Crystal Ventures to list MTN shares on local bourse” (The New Times, April 15).

I am very confident about the future of the Rwandan Stock Exchange with companies like Crystal Telecom listing their shares in MTN, and government doing the same to its shares in I&M Bank.

In comparison to the stock markets of Kenya and Uganda, Rwanda’s has been relatively dull.

However this new trend—taken up by some of the biggest shareholders in profitable corporations to trade their shares publicly – is a move I feel will jump-start the seemingly dull stock market in the country.

This is simply because Rwandans can easily relate to these domestic corporations, plus they at least have an idea of how profitable these companies are.

This is indeed a great opportunity for Rwandans as they can now share some of the profits these multi-million corporations have been milking from them.

Plus, this seems like easy money – I mean we shall have the very experienced board and management of MTN Rwanda working to make sure the value of the shares increases.
