The draws for the16th edition Africa Youth Championship have been set for November 28 in Kigali, Ferwafa boss Brig. Gen. John Bosco Kazura has confirmed. The draw had been set for November 21 according to CAF Executive Committee member and president of the youth commission, Slim Aloulou who visited Kigali last week. However, according to the new schedule the draw has been postponed due to other Caf events that will be taking place on the same weekend.

According to Fifa calendar the final draw of Fifa Confederations Cup South Africa 2009 will be taking place in Johannesburg on 22 November the same weekend that the second leg of Confederation Cup finals will be played.
In an interview with Times Sport, Kazura said that the date has been changed due to events will be held on the same weekend.
"The draws for the U-20 will thus be held on November 28 and CAF is set to provide guidance on the format which will enable us to host the event,” Kazura said.
Meanwhile, Nigeria edged closer to qualification for the championship after a 5-0 drubbing of Sudan over the weekend in the first leg clash.
Nigeria, record-five time winners of the biennial championship are favorites to hosts join Rwanda in the championship with the second leg due in a fortnight.
In Accra, Ghana’s Black Satellites came from a goal down to beat the Young Scorpions of Gambia 2-1 in a heated clash while in Cairo, Zambia played to a 3-all draw over three-time winners Egypt.
In Yaoundé, defending champions Congo played out a gallant game to hold Cameroon to a nail-biting goalless draw.
The Congolese stunned their hosts with an output which confirmed the status as the best youth side in Africa. Mali stunned Benin in Port Novo to a 2-0 goal victory.
Elsewhere, Young Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire secured a 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso while Botswana was held by South Africa at home.
Results earned Nigeria, Mali, Ghana and Ivory Coast put them in pole position to join Rwanda.
The second leg matches has been scheduled for the weekend of October 10-12 with the winners booking their places for the final tournament to be held in Kigali from January 18 to February 1, 2009.
