Derek Sano a member of boyband Active Again, recently released his second Extended Play (EP) ‘Bedroom Playlist.’

The EP is comprised of six songs: ‘Details’ featuring Danny Nanone and Fox Makare, ‘Bang Bang’, ‘Mu Cyumba’, ‘First Sight’, ‘Irresistible’ and ‘Ex’ featuring Active Again.

"I first did ‘Mr Lava Lava’, an EP of three songs. To me it was like a trial after going to school to pursue music. I wanted to practice what I learned and see if people can love it. With ‘Bedroom Playlist’ I was so confident that if I could make some advanced songs, my fans would definitely love them based on my experience with the first EP,” Derek told The New Times.

He added: "The reception has been overwhelming. It is way beyond what I expected. All the songs on the EP were like myself telling my personal stories,” he added.

He shared that he started working on some of the songs before Covid-19 kicked in. Kenny Vybz was the main producer on the EP, although Derek also contributed on the production.

The singer has often been accused of causing Active Again’s hiatus.

"Active Again is still alive and kicking. As a group though, we’ve been so quiet, because of a huge mistake that we committed of signing a contract with a music label which we thought was going to boost us. We later realised how unprofessional it was and we are now facing the consequences which may take time. The three of us are so understanding and supportive in this journey that we share.”

Derek Sano started music back in 2010 when he participated in Kina Music Label when producer Clement Ishimwe ran some competitions to get fresh new talented artists to start the record studio with.

After years of doing music, Derek Sano, Tizzo (Thierry Mugiraneza) and Olvis (Olivier Mugabo) then formed Active Again group. He is currently also pursuing solo projects.
