Katauti’s Anorthosis and Karekezi’s Helsingborg hammered Uefa Cup

Tottenham (England) 6-1 Anorthosis (Cyprus)

Heerenveen (Holland) 5-3 Helsingborg (Sweden)

Rwandan players featuring in European clubs were on the wrong end of results for their respective teams as the group stages of the Uefa Cup Championship got underway in midweek.

Hamad Ndikumana a.k.a Katauti who features for Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta FC fell to English Premiership side Tottenham Hotspur in a 6-1 demolition.

Ndikumana missed the game after accumulating two yellow cards in the last qualifying round where Anorthosis demolished of Romania’s FC Cluj 3-1 goal aggregates.

Olivier Karekezi who features for Allsvenskan league giants, Helsingborg suffered a humiliating 5-3 defeat over Holland side Heerenveen.

With quick fire goals, Tottenham looks to be on course of completing the UEFA Cup group stage after a comfortable first round first-leg defeat of Anorthosis Famagusta FC.

Younes Kaboul headed in early for Spurs but it was three goals in a four-minute spell late in the first half from Michael Dawson, Robbie Keane and Darren Bent that put the two-time UEFA Cup winners in full control.

Substitute Jermain Defoe added two more but in between the large contingent of London-based Cypriots was cheered when Anton Žlogar scored the consolation goal for Anorthosis with ten minutes left.

Helsingborg scored their goals from Henrik Larsson(2) and Razak Omotoyossi while Heerenveen scored their goals through Christian Bak Nielsen, Michael Bradley(2) and Gerald Sibon scored a brace for the Dutch club.
