Bugesera finished the national second division’s first-leg round on top of Pool B after routing Kirehe 4-0 on Saturday as Esperance were held to a 1-1 draw by Sorwathe

Before match day 11, Sorwathe were leading the league log with 24 points, two ahead of Bugesera and Rwamagana.

With Sorwathe only managing a draw and both Rwamagana and Bugesera winning their respective matches, the three sides now have equal points with the former occupying the top position due to their superior goal difference.

The Bugesera District-sponsored side scored their four goals through captain David Nzabanita, Djihad Rucogoza, Isaro Umutijima and Anicet Muhire.

Bugesera head coach Noah Nsaziyinka praised his players for a job well done but cautioned them against complacency. "We did well today; this is what we have been fighting for all this time, kudos to my players for a job well done. However, we need to get even more focused; there is a lot of work ahead.”

Elsewhere, in Pool B, Rwamagana thrashed Intare 3-0, Muhanga won 2-1 in a close tie against Interforce, while Golden Generation won 2-1 over Miroplast.

In Pool A, Kicukiro-based Aspor thrashed Gitikinyoni Academy 7-0, Vision FC beat Gasabo 2-1, Etoile de l’Est lost 2-1 to Vision Jeunesse, while Heroes won 1-0 away to Gatsibo-based Hope FC.

La Jeunesse vs Pepiniere tie at Ferwafa turf was abandoned due to heavy rains.
