Rwandan rider Janvier Hadi finished third at stage 1 of the Tour International de Blida in Algeria from Blida to Djbabra yesterday.

Hadi, who won the Grand Prix de la Ville Oran on Tuesday, achieved his second podium finish at this year’s Grand Tour d’Algerie in fashion but most importantly added to his ever-increasing points on the UCI Africa Tour.

The Team Rwanda Captain Hadi came behind winner Mekseb Debesay, 2014 African cyclist of the year who was in pole position and Algerian Adil Barbari who finished in second place.

Head coach Jonathan Boyer is impressed with the riders’ momentum in the North African country and is confident that they will maintain this drive in the upcoming seven races on the three-week tour.

Today, Team Rwanda will be hoping to replicate their current form at stage 2 from Tipaza to Blida, a total distance of 123.5km.

The route is expected to present the same challenges – humid weather and windy conditions but recent results have shown the riders to have what it takes to challenge the five home sides and the other professional sides at the competition.
