Etincelles FC players have petitioned the club management over unpaid salaries and allowances for the past two months—the players say they were last paid at the end of December last year.

The Rubavu-based side is second from bottom of league table standing with 15 points in 17 matches, having won just three, drawn six and lost eight.

The players, who preferred anonymity because they’re not supposed to take the issue to the media, said they have for long been claiming for the unpaid salaries but all in vain.

"The club owes us two months’ salary arrears and allowances. We have been training and playing well despite being in 13th position in the league,” noted one senior player.

He added, "Two months without pay is something big, we have to eat and pay bills at home and yet the club is acting as if nothing is wrong. They must do something as many of us rely on that money for our daily lives.”

However, Etincelles club chairman Amani Turatsinze, when contacted yesterday, acknowledged that indeed the club owes players two months salaries and they are doing everything possible to pay them soon.
