Sunday March 8 will mark the International Women’s Day under the theme "Make It Happen”. This week, Women Today features success stories of women who have in fact made it happen in their lives, and the lives of others. 

Take Fatuma Uwimana for example, who even after dropping out of school and facing one of the worst slaughters in the world, the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, did not give up on her dream to make it big one day. After a small tailoring course at Salem in Nyamirambo, Uwimana continued to fight the odds and her perseverance and hard work made her the woman she is today – a stable business lady with 12 employees under her care. Also making it happen is Marthe Mukamutara from Gakenke District, who runs a bistro, conference hall, and modern pub, among other things. And all this happened with a humble start of only Rwf 80,000.
