It’s a pity to always see most of our universities spending a non negligible budget on such events, yet they do not often spend even a franc or invest in research or scientific writing competitions.

Honestly speaking, is this the core business of a university? Tell me Mount Kenya and other like-minded institutions, how do you expect to boost academic competition and raise up your global ranking credentials if you do not seriously invest in your core business—that is providing high quality teaching and research ?

I understand that this is part of your marketing strategy, but I think you can market yourself better by providing the labour market with highly qualified employees rather than spending on things that matter the least for academic institutions.
