Rwanda should reciprocate South Africa travel restrictions

Editor,

It is disturbing that Rwandans are finding it next to impossible to travel to South Africa and yet South Africans are freely travelling to Rwanda. I acknowledge that countries can have strained relations, however, it only makes sense if ordinary citizens are not affected.

I am a student who has been unable to finish university just because the South African consular services has shunned Rwandans. And I am not alone. There are businessmen unable to do business, medical patients whose treatment has come to an end and cases have been growing by the day. And, yet I see South Africans travelling to Rwanda as they wish. If Rwandans cannot have access to South Africa, the reverse should also be true. That will make it fair game.
