ESPOIR basketball club coach Jean Bahufite has tipped youngster Bruno Nyamwasa on pursuing a successful basketball career after helping his side start the league title campaign with an emphatic win over IPRC- South on Sunday.

The 18-year-old Nyamwasa who was also pivotal in Espoir basketball club’s triumph in the national heroes tournament two weeks ago, got 27 points to help the three-time champions to a 79-65 win over Huye-based IPRC- South.

Shooting guard Lionel Hakizimana, point guard Aristide Mugabe and power forward Bienvenue Ngandu contributed 15, 14 and 13 points respectively.

In an interview with Times Sport , Bahufite said Nyamwasa is not only a star for the future but a player that the club will bank on as they set out to defend their league title.

"I am impressed with how the boy played the game against IPRC- South. He is very quick, has a very good ball control and is obedient to coaches and his seniors. He will surely help the team a lot this season,” Bahufite said.

In February, the defending champions made three signings that include point guards Kevin Ruzibiza and Jean Paul Kabanda and 25-year old center forward Norbert Kwizera from archrivals United Basketball Generation (UGB).

Champions Espoir face IPRC- Kigali in their next league fixture on Sunday at NPC gymnasium.
